Hello everyone.. I actually forgot there was something called blogs.. Was busy with exams, and as usual, not good performance but waiting patiently for counselling. Really bored, especially when i don't want to study for sometime, and when the movies are really boring.. Especially the new one OKOK, i don't know what others say, but Hansika needs to go for some acting classes, and the hero, as well as the comedian have to make sure the audience don't sleep. We did, Yes.
Now for the topic.. This was something very interesting i came across yesterday.. As a doctor, i never knew this, till i saw this on Discovery though i have experienced it.. Everyone of us have experienced this.. What happens when we eat icecream?? Or a cold juice.. We get headache.. And it vanishes in some two minutes.. This is called Brain Freeze.. ( I hope its just a slang term).. The name for this is Acute Sphenopalatine ganglion neuralgia.. ( For non medicos who read this blog, Ganglion is a place where nerves meet and it will be swelled up, and that ganglion is near our face.) The reason behind this is, when we eat cold items, the temperature of our mouth, especially upper part called palate that comes into contact, gets lowered, and it causes vasoconstriction; i.e; blood vessels in our palate constrict.. And then, due to reflex mechanisms, our blood vessels dilate, thereby causing reflex vasodilation, and it leads us to headache. Interesting, isn't it?
To make some facts clear, Brain never freezes, it is insensitive to pain. It is because of this neuralgia, that we experience pain. And it doesn't depend upon the environmental temperature.. But it depends upon how cold we eat, and how fast we eat too.. So eat slowly guys :)
There are some other ways to reduce it, like drinking warm water will be the best, but none of us like it while eating icecream :) Some other points are there, which i won't be able to explain in mere words :-)
I came across an android app called Instagram, one of the hot apps right now, which i installed but couldn't use it because of low storage. Its a photo app, and if someone uses it, let me know. The main thing that i hate in Android phones are the storage capacity. Our money has no value for the manufacturers, they simply don't care.. Atleast, the other aspects in htc are good. I don't understand why they say, you can improve your SD card capacity, whereas, most of the Playstore apps are for phone memory. Please guys, atleast make sure the whole app goes to SD card.
The Gods of Atlantis, written by David Gibbins, was really good, especially the way it has been written.. But the main concept of the story, i think, is been touched by every author now a days.. ( Just saying the thrillers).. I was interested in mythical Atlantis, so it made me to read, and for your information, this book is a sequel to the Atlantis..
